According to the National Trust for Historic Preservation, May is Preservation Month. In Newtown PA, that means Preseravtion Awards for complete projects in the Borough. As the Chair of the Historic Architect Review Board, I have the pleasure of handing out awards, good practice for my public speaking skills, such as they are.
We were honored with two this year. The first, for the Residential category, was for our addition to the Farsje Residence. David Klemmer was the builder, who did an excellent job. Marti's lot is full of mature landscaping which makes for challenging photo opportunities:
The second was for the New Construction category for our work on the new Stocking Works III building for Allan Smith. Again, we had an excellent builder in Twining Construction, who did a terrific job. Hayden Architecture received an award as deign architect. Photo by Todd mason of Halkin Photography.
Finally, the Stocking Works III, was awarded silver by the National Ornamental & Miscellaneous Metals Association. The award was given to the fabricator of the main stairs, M. Cohen and Sons, Inc., who did a great job making and installing the unusual design. A silver for steel and glass...
